WILLIAM FRANKLIN BALMER, SR.

Bill was born on September 21, 1936 to Chester and Virginia Balmer in Hannibal, MO. He was the older of 2 boys. He grew up in Jefferson City, MO where he was very active in music and scouting.
Bill graduated in 1958 from the University of Missouri with a degree in Electrical Engineering and began his career in Chicago at Zenith designing hearing aids. In 1971 he received an MBA from the University of Chicago. After several moves, Bill retired in 2000 from Audio-Technica where he designed microphones. He even designed the microphone that sits on the floor of the United States Senate Chamber.
Bill married Cate Beenk Parker on January 25, 1975 as they combined their two young families into one. Bill is survived by his wife Cate, their children Brenda (Brad), Susan (Ron), Bill, Jr. (Mary), Karen (John), and Mike, and his brother, Bob (Cynthia), 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a grand-daughter (Kelsey Renee Balmer).
Bill and Cate moved to Florida shortly after his retirement. Bill was active in several condo associations prior to moving to Freedom Square. Bill loved singing in the choir and was also occasionally a soloist at Anona United Methodist Church in Largo. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 27th, 2016 at Anona United Methodist Church at 2 o'clock pm. In lieu of flowers the Balmer family would ask that donations be made to the Anona United Methodist Church Music program or to the Stephen Ministry. Serenity Funeral Home is assisting the Balmer family with arrangements.
