Earl James Parkinson, of Largo, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2016. Born in Richmond, Virginia on January 15, 1923 Earl grew up loving animals and nature. He developed a love for boxing and won the Featherweight Golden Glove in Richmond, Virginia. Through boxing Earl met his beloved wife and best friend, Ruth.
Earl went on to serve 20 years in the United States Navy, and was later employed for 20 years with NASA. Though he was forever proud of these great accomplishments, Earl was most proud of the time he spent boxing...

Earl James Parkinson, of Largo, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2016. Born in Richmond, Virginia on January 15, 1923 Earl grew up loving animals and nature. He developed a love for boxing and won the Featherweight Golden Glove in Richmond, Virginia. Through boxing Earl met his beloved wife and best friend, Ruth.
Earl went on to serve 20 years in the United States Navy, and was later employed for 20 years with NASA. Though he was forever proud of these great accomplishments, Earl was most proud of the time he spent boxing in Richmond.
In Earl's later years he enjoyed mornings at Village Inn with his family where he drew portraits and did crossword puzzles. He enjoyed teaching his family Morse Code, though not everyone was successful in learning, he was still proud. Earl was affiliated with the American Legion Post 273, and enjoyed reminiscing his time in the Navy there. Earl loved to write, even though he is not a published author, his family cherishes the manuscripts he has left behind.
Earl is predeceased by the love of his life, Ruth. He is survived by their three children; Carol (Paul), Suzanne, and Dennis (Michele); and three grandchildren; Laura, Jeff (Michele), and Dennis.
A memorial service will be held in Earl's honor on Monday, December 5th at 11:00AM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Rd, Largo, FL 33774. A Committal Service will follow at 2:30PM at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241, where Earl will join his love, Ruth.
